Hi Ringo, Just saw this here ... I'm so sorry. Even if it's not unexpected, I don't suppose those mental cushions actually protect a lot from the shock and loss. A little, but not a lot; how can they? All my best to your and your husband. Hope he finds some solace in his stargazing and whatever else is good for him and you and your family.

Thanks so much. Yes, he had been declining for quite some time - Parkinson's - so in some ways the family was relieved - the last couple of years had been no fun at all. Somehow though, that hasn't really made it any easier after all.

Hi Ring...I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your father-in-law...It's been my experience that no matter how long someone has been sick or how prepared you think you are, it is always a surprise when it happens. I pray for peace for your husband and you...and all those that loved your father-in-law.
